WE THANK YOU FOR THE RESOURCES THAT YOU HAVE PROVIDED US WITH AND ASK THAT YOU CONTINUE TO GIVE OUR MAYOR AND OUR CITY COUNCIL WISDOM, DISCERNMENT, AND DIRECTION ON THE BEST WAYS TO USE THESE RESOURCES THAT WOULD BRING YOU GLORY AND BENEFIT OUR CITY.

THAT WE PRAY FOR THOSE THAT HAVE LOST LIVES AND HOMES DUE TO THE FIRES IN CALIFORNIA AND THE FLOODS IN NORTH CAROLINA.

YOU KNOW, TONIGHT WE ARE BOTH HONORED AND SAD TO SAY GOODBYE TO ONE OF OUR LONGTIME MEMBERS OF THE CHINO HILLS TEAM.

IT IS, WITH TREMENDOUS GRATITUDE TO PRESENT MS. MARIA GRACIA, A CITY TILE FOR HER 23 AND A HALF YEARS OF SERVICE WITH THE CITY OF CHINO HILLS.

SINCE SHE FIRST BEGAN HER CAREER WITH THE CITY IN 2001 AS AN ACCOUNT CLERK, TWO IN THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT, MARIA QUICKLY DISTINGUISHED HERSELF AS A TEAM PLAYER WHO HELPED CREATE A POSITIVE WORKPLACE OVER THE SPAN OF ABOUT SIX YEARS, MARIA OR, OR IN EARNED FOUR DIFFERENT PROMOTIONS.

AND FINALLY, TRANS TRANSITIONED TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WHERE SHE CURRENTLY SERVES AS MANAGEMENT ANALYST TO NO MATTER THE DEPARTMENT OR THE POSITION, MARIA CONSISTENTLY HOLDS THE HIGHEST AND ETHICAL STANDARDS, DELIVERS OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE, EXEMPLIFIES TEAMWORK, AND DOES IT ALL WITH A SMILE.

OVER 23 YEARS, MARIA BUILT AN IMPRESSIVE RESUME.

SOME OF HER MORE NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDE DEVELOPING THE CITY'S SYSTEM FOR ASSESSING, COLLECTING, AND TRACKING DEVELOPMENT IMPACT FEES, WHICH IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

CREATING A TRACKING SYSTEM FOR REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENTS ACQUIRED FROM THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO AFTER INCORPORATION AND CONSOLIDATING THE MANAGEMENT OF DEVELOPMENT PROJECT TRUST DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT.

BEYOND HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS, MARIA'S REMARKABLE COMMITMENT TO FOSTERING A POSITIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HER TIRELESS DEDICATION TO THE CITY MADE HER A TRUE ASSET TO OUR ORGANIZATION.

THIS YEAR'S THEME SELECTED BY THE NATIONAL WOMEN'S HISTORY OR HISTORY ALLIANCE IS MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER WOMEN EDUCATING AND INSPIRING GENERATIONS.

THIS THEME GENERATES AND CELEBRATES, UH, ALL THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF WOMEN FOR ALL FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS, WHICH ARE WHO ENRICH OUR LIVES THROUGH LEADERSHIP, CAREGIVING, CREATIVITY, AND SERVICE, INCLUDING CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE MILITARY AND CHARITABLE WORK.

IT'S BEEN A LONG JOURNEY TO ESTABLISH CHINO HILLS STATE PARK AND THE CITY OF CHINO HILLS HAS BEEN THERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, WHETHER IT WAS BY HAVING A STRONG GENERAL PLAN THAT PROTECTS RIDGE LINES AND TREES, OR OVERTLY ESPOUSES ITS VALUE OF CONSERVATION.

WE HAVE BEEN GRATEFUL TO HAVE HAD THE MODEL OF CHINO HILLS THAT YOU HAVE PROVIDED US TO TAKE TO OTHER CITIES IN OUR HILLSIDE SYSTEM.

OUR FOCUS IS WE WORK TO CONNECT CITY PAIRS THAT ARE TOO LONG TO DRIVE IN, TOO SHORT TO FLY.

SO I ALWAYS SAY THIS, WE ARE A COMPLIMENT TO THE SYSTEM THAT ALREADY EXISTS.

WE DON'T THINK THAT PEOPLE ARE GONNA STOP FLYING TOTALLY OR STOP DRIVING ON THE 15, BUT WE'RE PROVIDING AN OPTION.

AND WE GOT OUR START IN FLORIDA.

THOSE ARE THE LARGER STATIONS.

AND THEN WE BUILT INLINE STATIONS IN AVENTURE AND BOCA RATON IN DECEMBER OF 22.

AND THEN MOST RECENTLY OPENED OUR FLAGSHIP STATION IN ORLANDO.

OUR STATION IN ORLANDO SITS ABOVE, IT

UM, LIKE I SAID, WE ARE FOCUSED ON HOSPITALITY.

IF YOU EVER GET A CHANCE TO TAKE THE FLORIDA TRAIN OR IF YOU WAIT TILL WE COME IN IN A 2028, THE IDEA IS CUSTOMER SERVICE.

BUT IT WAS SOMETHING, IT WAS A TESTAMENT BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE HAPPY EMPLOYEES, THEY CAN PROVIDE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

AND THAT'S ONE OF OUR FOCUSES.

UM, THE OTHER THING IS REENERGIZING NEIGHBORHOODS.

EACH PLACE WHERE OUR STATION IS AT, WE HAVE TREMENDOUS TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT.

SO FOR THE, THE GROUNDS IN LAS VEGAS, WE HAVE 110 ACRES.

THE STATION WILL ONLY BE ON AT ABOUT 20 OF THOSE ACRES.

WE'LL BE DEVELOPING THE REST.

THE STATION IN MIAMI, WHICH IS WHAT YOU SEE IN THAT PICTURE THERE, THOSE BUILDINGS YOU SEE DIDN'T EXIST PRIOR TO BRIGHT LINE.

BUT WE CAME IN AND WITH THE INVESTMENTS WE MADE IN THE STATION AND IN THE AREA, SOME OF IT WE OWNED, SOME OF IT WE BUILT AND THEN SOLD.

AT THIS TIME, WE'VE SOLD ALL EXCEPT FOR THE BUILDING WE'RE IN, BUT THE FOOTPRINT THAT WE LEAVE WHEREVER WE GO LETS YOU KNOW THAT OUR COMMITMENT IS BEYOND TRANSPORTATION.

IT'S TO RE-ENERGIZING NEIGHBORHOODS AND MAKING THINGS BETTER.

SO BRIGHTLINE WEST, CONNECTING LAS VEGAS AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

SO THE FIRST THING, BECAUSE THERE'S BEEN SO MANY ITERATIONS OF THIS TRAIN, I HAVE PEOPLE I TALK TO IN LAS VEGAS ALL THE TIME, WHO THINK WE STILL JUST GO TO VICTORVILLE? NO, THE TRAIN.

WHEN BRIGHT LINE WEST CAME IN, THEY GOT THE PERMITS TO GO TO RANCHO CUCAMONGA BECAUSE RANCHO REPRESENTS WHERE ALL OF THIS TRANSIT IS GOING TO MEET.

SO THE ELECTRIC TRAINS THAT WE HAVE, HAVE ZERO AT GRADE CROSSINGS.

IN FLORIDA, WE HAVE CROSSINGS BECAUSE IT'S A FREIGHT RAIL, BUT THE TRAIN THAT IS COMING FROM VEGAS TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WILL GO UP THE MEDIAN OF THE 15.

SO WHEN WE SAY PROTECTED CORRIDOR, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE REFERENCING.

UM, EACH OF THESE REPRESENTS, UH, CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTORS THAT WILL BE COMING IN AND DOING THEIR SPECIFIC PIECES.

SO THE SUMMARY OF OUR CONTRACTORS, WE HAVEN'T ANNOUNCED ALL OF THEM YET, WE'RE IN THE FINAL STAGES OF OUR CONTRACT SIGNING, BUT WE'VE BROKEN IT UP, LIKE I SAID, INTO NINE KEY CONTRACTS.

SIEMENS HAS BEEN SIGNED ALREADY AND WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF THE FINAL STAGES OF NEGOTIATION.

SO EVERY DAY IN OUR OFFICE, WE HAVE CONTRACTORS IN DIFFERENT CONFERENCE ROOMS AND THEY ARE ALL WORKING IT OUT.

SO YOU CAN IMAGINE THOSE ARE GREAT CONVERSATIONS, BUT THEY'RE COMING TOGETHER SO THAT WE CAN MAKE SURE WE STICK TO THE TIMEFRAME AND THE BUDGET THAT WE HAVE SET.

UH, LOOKS LIKE, YOU KNOW, PHYSICS EXPERIMENTS, ARCHIMEDES WHEEL, THINGS LIKE THAT WHERE THE KIDS CAN INTEGRATE WITH THOSE, THE WATER ELEMENTS AND, UH, YOU KNOW, AT THE SAME TIME GETTING WET, BUT NOT THE OVERHEAD DUMP BUCKETS THAT YOU TYPICALLY SEE.

THIS SHOWS THE INDOOR OUTDOOR RELATIONSHIPS OF THE BUILDING, THE VIEWS OUT TO THE SPLASH SPRAY PAD AREA.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE REALLY PROUD OF IN THE DESIGN IS THAT THIS DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A, A SPRAY SPLASH AREA THAT YOU WOULD SEE ON A, A POOL DECK AT A HIGH SCHOOL.

THIS LOOKS LIKE A PARK WITH A WATER FEATURE IN IT.

WE ALSO HAVE A LOT OF PARK-LIKE AREA INSIDE THE SPLASH ZONE.

JUST TO START OFF, TO GIVE AN OVERVIEW OF THE FLOOR PLAN, UH, THE TOTAL BUILDING SQUARE FOOTAGE IS 11,138 SQUARE FEET.

ANY HOUSES, BOTH THE PROGRAM THAT SUPPORTS THE PA SPLASH PAD AREA AS WELL AS THE COMMUNITY CENTER.

THIS IS A VIEW, UH, UH, LARRY ALREADY SHARED SOME VIEWS, BUT THIS IS LOOKING FROM THE DROP OFF.

ONE OF THE ELEMENTS THAT WE WERE LOOKING, UH, WHILE DESIGNING WAS ENSURING THAT THERE'S VISIBILITY TO BOTH ENTRANCES OF THE PROGRAM FROM THE DROP OFF, SO YOU CAN SEE YOUR KIDS GOING INTO THE SPLASH PAD OR THE COMMUNITY CENTER.

UM, EQUALLY JUST TO GET INTO A LITTLE MORE DETAIL ON THE PROGRAM OF THE BUILDING, UH, STARTING OFF WITH THIS SPLASH PAD PROGRAM, UH, IT'S JUST UNDER A THOUSAND SQUARE FEET DEDICATED TO, UH, THAT PROGRAM WITH THE DETACHED BUILDING ON THE TOP RIGHT, UH, LEFT CORNER THAT IS HOUSING MORE OF THE BACK OF HOUSE ELEMENTS LIKE THE MECHANICAL ROOM, THE BACK, UM, STORAGE, AS WELL AS SOME, UH, OUTDOOR SHOWERS SERVING THE, UM, SPLASH PAD.

AND THEN ATTACHED TO THE COMMUNITY BUILDING, YOU HAVE THE, UH, RESTROOMS. UH, EVEN THOUGH THIS PROGRAMS IS VERY INTERTWINED, WE WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT THAT THERE ISN'T REALLY A DIRECT ACCESS FROM THE SPLASH PAD TO THE ACTUAL COMMUNITY BUILDING.

AND THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE WORKED WITH STAFF TO MAKE SURE, YOU KNOW, SECURITY WISE THAT, UH, STAFF IS ALWAYS LOOKING AT WHO'S COMING IN AND OUT OF THE BUILDING AS WELL AS YOU DON'T HAVE PEOPLE RUNNING, UH, WET AND CAUSING, UH, POTENTIAL DANGERS, UM, DANGERS TO HAVING, UH, SPACES WET AND PEOPLE FALLING FOR ANY REASON.

DOESN'T THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA REQUIRE RESTROOMS ROOMS ACCESSIBLE TO THE SPLASH PAD AREAS? THEY ARE.

AND THEN THERE'S ONE MAJOR GATE, UH, THAT IS BETWEEN THE, UH, COMMUNITY BUILDING AND THE MAINTENANCE STORAGE.

SO IT'S, IT'S JUST FOR PEOPLE TO KINDA GET ORIENTED AS TO WHAT'S THERE.

SO IT'S, IT'S VERY, VERY SEPARATE AND DISTINCT.

AND AS YOU NAVIGATE THROUGH THE CONCOURSE, YOU WOULD SEE THREE CLASSROOMS DEDICATED, UH, AS WELL FOR THE, UH, COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES EACH AT ABOUT 650 SQUARE FEET.

UM, CLASSROOM REMOTE ONE HAS BEEN DETACHED A LITTLE BIT WITH THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING STAFF TO, UH, PROGRAM, UH, ANY ACTIVITY THAT IS A LITTLE MORE NOISY, RIGHT? SO IF YOU HAVE A TAP DANCE, UH, CLASS, YOU'RE NOT PUTTING THAT ADJACENT TO A YOGA CLASS.

AND SO THAT'S WHERE THE WATER EXPLORATION, UM, CONCEPT CAME UP.

AND I COULD SEE US HAVING THAT OPEN, UH, EVEN LONGER PERIODS OF TIME FROM THAT STANDPOINT.

THE ONE NICE THING, UNLIKE A LOT OF SPLASH PADS THAT YOU'LL FIND AT OTHER CITIES IS, IS THAT WE WILL HAVE A STAFF PRESENCE THERE.

AND SO THAT WILL REALLY ALLOW US TO, UH, YOU KNOW, MEET THE NEEDS.

I WOULD THINK, YOU KNOW, IF WE HAVE A HOT PERIOD OF TIME AND IT LOOKS LIKE, HEY, I THINK WE CAN EXTEND THIS IN ANOTHER COUPLE OF WEEKS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, THEN WE CAN DO THOSE TYPES OF THINGS.

THE, UH, EXPLORATION IS KIND OF CIRCUITOUS AND IT, IT REALLY INTEGRATES WITH ADJACENT SEATING AND THE LANDSCAPE.

IT IS PROBABLY A LARGER FOOTPRINT, BUT I'D SAY THEY'RE PROBABLY EQUITABLE IN TERMS OF THEIR PLAY OR THEIR INTERACTION VALUE.

UM, WE'RE USING STATE-OF-THE-ART EQUIPMENT MM-HMM .

UM, THE HARD THING WITH PROJECTING A A WINDOW OF TIME IS THE USE, RIGHT? HOW, HOW MANY MONTHS A YEAR IS IT ACTUALLY BEING USED AT ITS FULL CAPACITY? IF, IF YOU ARE USING IT AT A MODERATE LEVEL AND IT IT HAS PERIODS OF, YOU KNOW, REST, YOU'RE GONNA STRETCH.

IF IT'S USED VERY INFREQUENTLY, THAT'S LIKE ONE OF THE WORST THINGS FOR EQUIPMENT.

WE REALLY SEE THIS FACILITY AS THE HUB OF CLASS REGISTRATIONS FOR THOSE LIVING IN THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHINO HILLS.

AND OF COURSE, THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING MORE RECREATION TO THE CHINO HILLS COMMUNITY IN GENERAL.

UH, CURRENTLY THE THOUGHT PROCESS IS TO HAVE STAFF STATIONED AT THE FRONT COUNTER LIKE WE DO, UH, AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER AND ALSO HERE, UH, IN, UH, RECREATION AS WELL.

IN ADDITION, FACILITY ASSISTANCE WILL BE NEEDED TO COORDINATE THE SETTING UP AND THE CLEANUP AFTERWARDS AS IT RELATES TO THE, UH, VARIOUS ROOMS THAT WE HAVE THERE.

UM, IT'S VERY TAXING, UM, TO HAVE THE FRONT COUNTER STAFF DOING THOSE DUTIES AS WELL.

SO TO HAVE AN, UH, ANOTHER PERSON OR TWO TO HANDLES THAT STUFF AS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AS WELL.

UM, STAFF OF COURSE TO COORDINATE CLASSES AND EVENTS AS WELL AS STAFF TO OVERSEE USES OF THE SPLASH PAD AREA BECAUSE AS WE BELIEVE, UM, THE SPLASH PAD'S GONNA BE WILDLY POPULAR, I I THINK IT'S GONNA BE OVER THE TOP POPULAR ACTUALLY.

AND SO WE'RE JUST GONNA NEED A COMPONENT OF STAFF TO HELP OUT WITH THAT.

ESTIMATING AN APPROXIMATE COST OF OVER $400,000 PER YEAR FOR TO THE COST OF STAFF, UH, TO APPROPRIATELY STAFF THE BUILDING AS IT RELATES TO THE MAINTENANCE SIDE OF THINGS, TALKING WITH, UH, UM, PUBLIC WORKS AS IT RELATED TO THAT.

UM, THEY'RE ESTIMATING A YEARLY COST OF APPROXIMATELY 258,000, UH, IN GENERAL TERMS FOR JANITORIAL BUILDING, MAINTENANCE, UTILITIES, AND THE SPLASH PAD.

SO, UM, THAT'S THE, THE, THE NUMBER THAT THEY HAD COME UP WITH.

UH, OF COURSE THESE ARE APPROXIMATE COSTS AS IT RELATES TO THINGS, BUT, UM, JUST A COUPLE OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE FACILITY TO MAKE SURE OBVIOUSLY, THAT IT'S, UH, IT'S GONNA BE A GORGEOUS FACILITY AND, UH, ONE THAT WE WANT TO HAVE RUN SMOOTHLY LIKE WE HAVE AT THE COMMUNITY BUILDING RIGHT NOW AND SUCH.

BUT THAT'S, THAT'S OUR, UH, OUR FIRST COMMUNITY CENTER.

AND IT HAS BECOME A HUB, AS WE ALL KNOW IN THE CITY.

IT'S BECOME A HUB FOR OUR SENIORS AND OUR TEENS.

AND IT'S, IT'S OUR EMERGENCY CENTER.

WE'VE SUPERSIZED, UH, THE, THE GENERATOR, ET CETERA, SO IT CAN BECOME A COOLING CENTER AND IT BECOMES OUR, OUR PLACE TO GO WHEN EMERGENCIES HIT.

AND WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THE FACT THAT IT AN EVACUATION CENTER ALSO.

SO WE KNEW THAT THAT'S A GREAT AMENITY,

BUT ALSO THAT WE NEEDED MORE AMENITIES IN THE SOUTH SIDE OF TOWN.

AND THAT'S BEEN THE CATALYST FOR A LOT OF WHAT'S GOING ON NOW AS WE FORWARD, THINK OUR CITY AS A WHOLE CITY, UM, IT, IT IS AN EXPENSIVE PROJECT, BUT WHAT ISN'T THESE DAYS, AND WHEN WE TALKED ABOUT THIS EVEN A YEAR, THIS REALLY CAME TO FRUITION.

ALTHOUGH WE WERE TALKING ABOUT A SPLASH PAD SOMEWHERE IN TOWN IN OUR GOAL SETTING, OUR GOAL SETTING, UM, WORKSHOP IN NOVEMBER OF 23, WHERE AS A GROUP, WE DECIDED THAT FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS, WHAT ARE SOME OF OUR GOALS? AND THAT WAS NEAR THE TOP OF OUR GOAL SETTING, WAS TO PROCEED AS BEST WE CAN WITH A PROJECT THAT WOULD, UM, ENHANCE THE SOUTH SIDE OF TOWN WHEN IT COMES TO TEENS AND SCOUTS AND MAYBE SENIORS DEPENDING UPON THE SIZE.

AND THEN ACTUALLY, LARRY, THIS IS A LARGER FOOTPRINT THAT I ORIGINALLY WAS KIND OF HOPING FOR.

I WAS THINKING 70 508,000, MAYBE HALF THE SIZE OF OUR EXISTING COMMUNITY CENTER, KNOWING THE SPACE AVAILABLE, KNOWING WE'RE TALKING, WE NEED PARKING AND KNOWING WE NEEDED, UH, WE WANTED TO PUT IN A SPLASH PAD AS AN ADDITIONAL AMENITY.

SO I WILL SAY AS THIS HAS BEEN PERCOLATING, UH, SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2023, THIS IS, AS ONE OF OUR COMMISSIONERS SAID, THIS IS AN EVEN BETTER PROJECT THAN I HAD HOPED FOR AS FAR AS VISUALLY USE USAGE, ET CETERA.

SO THIS IS, I THINK THIS IS GONNA BE A HUGE AMENITY FOR CHINO HILLS, BUT ALSO FOR THE SOUTH SIDE OF TOWN, UH, WHERE SOMETIMES WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH AMENITIES.

NOW WE WILL AND, AND MORE TO COME ON OTHER THINGS.

BUT I'M VERY PROUD OF THIS AND LARRY AND TEAM HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB OF WHAT WE'VE SEEN SO FAR.

AND I'M SURE I'LL HAVE SOME MORE QUESTIONS AS WE GO.

AS FAR AS FUNDING, YES, THE COUNTY'S PUTTING IN A LARGE CHUNK OF MONEY, UH, YET TO BE DETER, YET TO BE DETERMINED.

THE FOUND CHINOS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, WHEN THE FOUNDATION, UH, WHEN THE COMMUNITY CENTER IN 2014 WAS BUILT THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION THROUGH OUR VARIOUS FUNDRAISING, PUT IN $335,000 TOWARDS THAT PROJECT FOR FURNITURE AND COMPUTERS AND ARTWORK AND WHATEVER.

WE HAVEN'T MET OFFICIALLY AS A BOARD TO DETERMINE THE SUM, BUT IT WILL COME UP IN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS.

MY GUESS IS OUR CONTRIBUTION FROM THE FOUNDATION WILL BE EVEN GREATER THAN $335,000 AS THE SUCCESS OF THE WINE WALK.

AND SOME OF THE OTHER THINGS HAVE BROUGHT IN MONIES INTO OUR, INTO OUR, UH, COFFERS.

WE'RE, WE'RE ABLE TO SPEND A LITTLE MORE.

SO I THINK WE WILL PIECE TOGETHER ALL THE FINANCES TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

I WOULD ALSO JUST POINT OUT, WE WENT THROUGH QUITE AN EXERCISE A FEW YEARS AGO TO UPDATE THE PARKS, UM, AND RECREATION MASTER PLAN, UH, WHICH HAD BEEN UPDATED BACK WHEN I FIRST JOINED THE COMMISSION IN 2007.

AND WE RECENTLY DID ANOTHER UPDATE, WHICH INVOLVED A LOT OF WORKSHOPS, UM, A LOT OF INTERACTIVE SESSIONS WITH THE COMMUNITY TO FIND OUT WHAT DOES THE COMMUNITY WANT, WHAT DO WE WANT IN PROGRAMMING, WHAT DO WE WANT IN FACILITIES, ET CETERA.

THE NUMBER ONE REQUESTED ITEM ON THAT WAS AN AQUATIC CENTER.

THE NUMBER FOUR REQUESTED ITEM WAS A SPLASH PAD, AND THE NUMBER 16 REQUESTED ITEM WAS A WATERPARK.

SO THIS IS SOMETHING THE CITY HAS WANTED IN ADDITION TO NEEDING THE, THE COMMUNITY CENTER, THE ROOMS, WE HAVE MYSTIC CANYON IN THE SOUTH, THAT'S REALLY ALL WE HAVE IN THE SOUTH.

AND THAT'S BEEN KIND OF A, A STRUGGLE FOR THE CITY TO KEEP UP.

SO I REALLY DO THINK THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME TO MAKE THE INVESTMENT AND I THINK THIS IS A GREAT PROJECT TO DO IT ON.

IN ONE INSTANCE, THE VICTIM RECEIVED A TELEPHONE CALL FROM SOMEONE CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT.

THE UNKNOWN PERSON TOLD THE VICTIM THEIR BANK ACCOUNT HAD BEEN COMPROMISED AND THEY NEEDED TO WITHDRAW $30,000 IMMEDIATELY AND LEAVE IT IN AN ENVELOPE ON THEIR FRONT PORCH FOR A COURIER TO PICK UP.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE VICTIM COMPLIED AND LATER REALIZED THEY HAD BEEN MISLED.

IN ANOTHER INSTANCE, THE VICTIM RECEIVED A TELEPHONE CALL FROM SOMEONE CLAIMING TO BE A BANK EMPLOYEE.

THE PERSON TOLD THE VICTIM THEIR BANK ACCOUNT HAD BEEN COMPROMISED AND THEY NEEDED TO IMMEDIATELY WITHDRAW ALL THEIR MONEY FROM THEIR SAVING ACCOUNT AND PLACE IT ON A DIGITAL CREDIT CARD WITH THE ACCOUNT NUMBER THE CALLER PROVIDED.

ONCE THE VICTIM DID.

SO, THE DIGITAL CREDIT CARD DISAPPEARED FROM THE VICTIM'S APPLE WALLET.

THE SUSPECT TOLD THE RESIDENT TO FEDEX $50,000 TO AN ADDRESS OUT OF THE AREA OR ELSE FACE ARREST.

LUCKILY, THE RESIDENT CALLED US PRIOR TO SENDING THE MONEY AND AVOIDED BEING A VICTIM.

TO PREVENT FALLING VICTIM TO SUCH SCAMS, RESIDENT SHOULD BE SUSPICIOUS OF ANY REQUEST THAT CLAIMS TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE AND THEY MUST ACT IMMEDIATELY.

IF YOU RECEIVE SUCH A REQUEST, CALL THE POLICE AND REPORT IT PRIOR TO TAKING ANY ACTION.

IF YOU RECEIVE A TEXT ASKING FOR ACCOUNT INFORMATION OR TO VERIFY A TRANSACTION, DON'T RESPOND.

FIND THE PHONE NUMBER FOR YOUR BANK AND CALL THEM DIRECTLY TO VERIFY IF THEY SENT YOU A MESSAGE OR CALL.

ONE WE FOUND IN OUR CITY, UH, A FEW MONTHS PRIOR, BUT ALSO IN, IN NEIGHBORING CITIES.

AND SO OUR DEPUTIES DID A SEARCH OF THE LANDSCAPING AROUND THE RESIDENCE AND ACTUALLY DID FIND A CAMOUFLAGE CAMERA AND ADDITIONAL BATTERY PACK.

SO, AND THOSE, THOSE THAT CAMERA WAS DIRECTED AT A RESIDENCE, WE KNOW OR SUSPECT THROUGH OTHER CAMERAS THAT HAVE BEEN FOUND IN OTHER AREAS, UM, THAT THEY ARE MORE THAN LIKELY USED BY POSSIBLE BURGLARY SUSPECTS TO TRACK THE, THE GOINGS OF RESIDENCES.

SO, UH, WE DID A, WE DID RELEASE A PRESS RELEASE, BUT FOR ANYONE, UM, I WOULD ASK THAT IF YOU'VE GOT A TRUSTED GARDENER TO MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR LANDSCAPING AND HAVE THEM CHECK YOUR LANDSCAPING AND IF YOU FIND ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS LIKE THAT TO GIVE US A CALL.
