Bob Goodwin, resident, spoke regarding the benefits of being a resident of Chino Hills and noted that the community is fortunate to be represented by dedicated and professional City Council and staff. He thanked the City Council for their transparency and efforts to make Chino Hills a premier City to work and live.
2. Sal Avila, Chino Hills 55+ Club, noted that there are 20 military veteran members of the 55+ Club looking forward to working with the City on the Military Banner program.
3. Chuck Haeflinger, resident, spoke regarding military veterans.
4. Victor Weaver, Chino Hills 55+ Club, noted that the 20 military veteran members of the organization are requesting that a tangible marker to represent and honor the military veterans of Chino Hills be placed outside the Chino Hills Community Center.

PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER REPORT
Public Information Officer (PIO) Cattern reported that the National Night Out kick-off event will be held on Thursday, June 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. She noted that this meeting will provide helpful information on how to coordinate and organize a neighborhood event. PIO Cattern reported that neighborhood events must be registered by July 16th. For more information call (909) 364-2713 or visit www.chinohills.org/nationalnightout.
PIO Cattern announced that a Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, June 4th from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Government Center Parking Lot. She noted that donors must be at least 17 years old and weight at least 110 punds. PIO Cattern commented that walk-ins are welcome or appointments can be made contacting the Red Cross at (800) 879-4484.
PIO Cattern reported that the Chino Hills Historical Society will meet on June 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Chino Hills Community Center. She noted that the Speaker will be Clair Schlotterback, Hills for Everyone, who will provide history and information on the organization.
COUNCIL REPORTS
1. Chino Valley Fire District – Mayor Moran reported that two Chino Valley Fire District firefighter/paramedics won bronze medals at the 2015 CFED Paramedic Competition on May 19th and 20th.
2. Chino Valley Unified School District – Vice Mayor Bennett reported that the meeting included the annual recognition of retirements and new enlistees in the armed forces. He noted that there were over 40 retirement certificated presented at the meeting.
3. Legislative Advocacy Committee – Council Member Graham reported that the Legislative Advocacy Committee will be submitting letters in opposition to the prevention of the impounding of homeless persons’ cars and in support of the conservation of open space and the sale of Ontario Airport revenue bonds.
4. Water Facilities Authority – Council Member Rogers reported that the meeting involved discussion of the Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Rogers:
Council Member Rogers asked for an update on the Military Banner Program. Recreation Supervisor Armit reported that banners throughout the City are being evaluated for damage and families contacted for an update on retirement of the banners. Supervisor Armit reported that Concerts in the Park will kick off on Wednesday, July 24th at Veterans Park. She noted that the July 1st Concert in the Park will be an Independence Day Celebration and will begin at 6:00 p.m. Council Member Rogers reminded everyone that the City, in conjunction with the City of Chino, will host two countries for the 2015 Summer Special Olympics on July 22nd and 23rd.
Bennett:
Vice Mayor Bennett asked that everyone continue to keep active and retired military service members and their families in thoughts and prayers.
Moran:
Mayor Moran announced that the Chino Hills State of the City will be held on June 25th at the Chino Hills Community Center. She noted that tickets are available through the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce and that information is available on the City’s website at www.chinohills.org.
ADJOURN IN MEMORIAM:
Adjourned in memoriam of Myrna Medina. Ms. Medina retired from the City of Chino Hills in 2013 after nearly 12 years of service in the Public Works and City Manager’s Departments. Myrna is survived by her husband Trib, son Michael, daughter Bianca, son-in-law Eric, and two grandsons Brady and Mason.

PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER REPORT
Public Information Officer (PIO) Cattern reported that the National Night Out kick-off event will be held on Thursday, June 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. She noted that this meeting will provide helpful information on how to coordinate and organize a neighborhood event. PIO Cattern reported that neighborhood events must be registered by July 16th. PIO Cattern announced that a Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, June 4th from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Government Center Parking Lot. She noted that donors must be at least 17 years old and weight at least 110 punds. PIO Cattern commented that walk-ins are welcome or appointments can be made contacting the Red Cross at (800) 879-4484.
PIO Cattern reported that the Chino Hills Historical Society will meet on June 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Chino Hills Community Center. She noted that the Speaker will be Clair Schlotterback, Hills for Everyone, who will provide history and information on the organization.
COUNCIL REPORTS
1. Chino Valley Fire District – Mayor Moran reported that two Chino Valley Fire District firefighter/paramedics won bronze medals at the 2015 CFED Paramedic Competition on May 19th and 20th.
2. Chino Valley Unified School District – Vice Mayor Bennett reported that the meeting included the annual recognition of retirements and new enlistees in the armed forces. He noted that there were over 40 retirement certificated presented at the meeting.
3. Legislative Advocacy Committee – Council Member Graham reported that the Legislative Advocacy Committee will be submitting letters in opposition to the prevention of the impounding of homeless persons’ cars and in support of the conservation of open space and the sale of Ontario Airport revenue bonds.
4. Water Facilities Authority – Council Member Rogers reported that the meeting involved discussion of the Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Rogers:
Council Member Rogers asked for an update on the Military Banner Program. Recreation Supervisor Armit reported that banners throughout the City are being evaluated for damage and families contacted for an update on retirement of the banners. Supervisor Armit reported that Concerts in the Park will kick off on Wednesday, July 24th at Veterans Park. She noted that the July 1st Concert in the Park will be an Independence Day Celebration and will begin at 6:00 p.m. Council Member Rogers reminded everyone that the City, in conjunction with the City of Chino, will host two countries for the 2015 Summer Special Olympics on July 22nd and 23rd.
Bennett:
Vice Mayor Bennett asked that everyone continue to keep active and retired military service members and their families in thoughts and prayers.
Moran:
Mayor Moran announced that the Chino Hills State of the City will be held on June 25th at the Chino Hills Community Center. She noted that tickets are available through the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce and that information is available on the City’s website at www.chinohills.org.
ADJOURN IN MEMORIAM:
Adjourned in memoriam of Myrna Medina. Ms. Medina retired from the City of Chino Hills in 2013 after nearly 12 years of service in the Public Works and City Manager’s Departments. Myrna is survived by her husband Trib, son Michael, daughter Bianca, son-in-law Eric, and two grandsons Brady and Mason.
