SHE OVERSEES OUR CELEBRATE, THE FAMILY CONTEST.

VANESSA, WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY A FEW WORDS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY? OKAY.

DO YOU MEAN, UH, YES.

FAMILY HAS ALWAYS BEEN IMPORTANT.

UM, BUT I THINK THIS YEAR, ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE UPS AND DOWNS OF 2020 HAS BROUGHT US, UM, I KNOW THE ONE THING THAT HAS HELPED KEEP ME GROUNDED AND GET ME THROUGH EACH DAY IS A LOVE AND SUPPORT OF MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

UM, THIS YEAR HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN DIFFERENT AND SOMEWHAT CRAZY.

UM, BUT I KNOW THAT OUR CITY AND OUR COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN WORKING HARD TO FIND WAYS FOR FAMILIES TO STAY CONNECTED, UH, BY HOSTING ACTIVITIES LIKE OUR CELEBRATE THE FAMILY CONTEST.

ALL RIGHT, NEXT, WE WILL MAKE THE PRESENTATION OF THE FAMILY POSTER AND ESSAY WRITING CONTEST WINNERS.

THIS YEAR IS OUR 23RD ANNUAL CELEBRATE THE FAMILY CONTEST.

AND THE THEME WAS MY FAVORITE FAMILY.

TRADITION IS WE HAD 128 ENTRIES SUBMITTED ONLINE FROM STUDENTS WHO LIVE OR ATTEND SCHOOL IN CHINO HILLS, KINDERGARTEN THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE.

I'D LIKE TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND THANK OUR RECREATION STAFF WHO HAD THE DIFFICULT TASK OF REVIEWING ENTRIES AND SELECTING WINNERS.

AND I'M GLAD THAT THAT CAME THROUGH IN SOME OF THE DRAWINGS AS WELL AS THE, THE ESSAYS.

NOW, USUALLY, UH, IF THIS WERE A NORMAL TIME, WE WOULD BE HAVING THE CHILDREN HERE AND WE WOULD HAVE THEIR POSTERS OUT IN THE LOBBY.

SINCE CITY HALL IS STILL CLOSED.

UH, SO THANK YOU VERY, VERY, VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT GOES TO THE COUNCIL MEMBERS AS WELL.

UM, I JUST WANTED TO CALL IN AND THANK, UH, THE CITY OF CHINO HILLS FOR EVERYTHING THAT IT DOES FOR VETERANS, INCLUDING MY FRONT YARD SIGNS WAS ABSOLUTELY PLACED IN A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO BY A STAFF MEMBER OR THE CITY HONORING THE VETERAN LIVES HERE, UH, WAS, UH, A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE AND A WARM MY HEART.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THAT.

AND FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAS LED UP TO THAT, THE CITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON THE SIDE OF THE VETERANS AND THE LOVED ONES AND THE MILITARY AND THEIR LOVED ONES.

SO I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THAT AND FOR WHAT'S COMING UP TOMORROW, UH, ON VETERANS DAY, UH, UH, WONDERFUL CHALLENGES THAT ARE BEING GIVEN OUT AS BREAKFAST EARLY IN THE MORNING, UH, BE GLAD TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT AND, UH, NEXT TO THE MONUMENT THERE, BUT IT'S A SMALL MEMORIAL THAT IS JUST ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.

I KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO BE DISCUSSING THAT LATER ON.

UH, BUT UH, STILL IN, IN MY EXPERIENCE, UH, I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE INVOLVED IN BEING PERSONALLY HONORED WITH THE MEMBER OF THE PURPLE HEART, UH, STAFF, UH, IN HONORING PEOPLE WHO, WHO, UM, HAD TO PAY A PRICE FOR FREEDOM, AND WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT PRICES ARE PAID FOR FREEDOM.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.

I WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK ABOUT THAT.

UH, WHEN YOU LATER ON IN THE MEETING, THE LAST THING I'D LIKE TO BRING UP REAL QUICK IS THAT TOMORROW BEING VETERAN'S DAY, I HAD THE HONOR OF BEING ASKED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CITY OF CHINOS, UM, VETERAN'S DAY CEREMONY, UH, WHICH WAS DONE AT VIRTUAL FILMING A COUPLE OF WEEKENDS AGO.

AND, UH, I WAS ASKED TO BE ONE OF THE GUEST SPEAKERS.

UH, THEY'RE ENCOURAGING YOU TO GO TO THE WEBSITE FOR THE CITY OF CHINO HILLS, THAT THE VETERANS OR GO TO THE, UH, FACEBOOK PAGE.

IT'LL BE THE LINK WILL BE THERE FOR YOU OR IN CHINO.

UH, THE GENERAL THREE, UH, RAISE MY FAMILY THERE.

SO IT'S KIND OF LIKE A SISTER, BROTHER, SISTER TO ME AS WELL, ALL HANDS WELL DONE, VETERANS AND MILITARY, AND YOUR LOVED ONES.

THANKS FOR LISTENING.
